Of The Maccabees

(Verse 1)
In days of old, a tyrant king,
Antiochus, with iron sting,
Forbade our faith, defiled our shrine,
And sought to crush the line divine.

(Chorus)
But Judah rose, with courage bold,
By Maccabees, the story told,
Of faith that triumphed, light that shone,
Against the darkness, overthrown.

(Verse 2)
With sword and shield, they fought the foe,
For freedom’s sake, they bravely go,
Reclaimed the Temple, cleansed the ground,
Where holy oil, a miracle found.

(Chorus)
For Judah rose, with courage bold,
By Maccabee, the story told,
Of faith that triumphed, light that shone,
Against the darkness, overthrown.

(Bridge)
The menorah’s flame, a beacon bright,
A symbol strong, of hope and light,
Eight nights we kindle, sing His praise,
For freedom’s gift, in these glad days.

(Chorus)
For Judah rose, with courage bold,
By Maccabees, the story told,
Of faith that triumphed, light that shone,
Against the darkness, overthrown.

(Outro)
So let us praise the One above,
Whose love and grace, forever move,
May His light shine, in every soul,
Making us whole.
